Welcome!

My name is Kristina Jones and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Kansas. My areas of specialization include relationship counseling, trauma, and race-based traumatic stress. I have experience providing individual, relationship, and family therapy. I have worked with people of all ages who have experienced trauma, including all forms of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, and domestic violence) and neglect. Trauma is defined as a distressing experience and, believe it or not, everyone experiences some form of trauma in their lifetime. Trauma is common and is uniquely defined by the person who experiences it. I'd be honored to partner with you in processing what you've experienced in a safe and judgment-free space. I also welcome clients who may not be seeking trauma-related therapy including individual counseling, relationship counseling, and co-parenting counseling.

In addition to being an entrepreneur, I also have the honor of working for a nonprofit mental health organization serving the Kansas City Metro area. I am the Vice President of Programs at the Child Abuse Prevention Association, an agency with the mission to treat and prevent all forms of child abuse and neglect. In my role there, I support all service programs and specifically focus on service provision quality, improvement, and expansion. It is really a privilege to serve the community of Kansas City by helping to make sure therapy, prevention services, and community education are available to those who need it most.

Training & Education Background

I am clinically trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which is a therapy technique used to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences. I am trained in using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I have completed Levels 1 and 2 training in the Gottman Relationship Method Therapy.

I earned a Master's degree in Guidance & Counseling, with an emphasis in Couples and Family Therapy, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I also earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University. I am licensed to provide therapy in Missouri and Kansas and I am a National Board Certified Counselor.
